“Teaching Notes” is a questionnaire created by the American artist Paul Thek to teach the 4-Dimensional Design Class under his charge at Cooper Union in New York between 1978 and 1981.

The notes consist of a series of questions that deal with subjects ranging from personal data to philosophical perspectives. They are formulated through compelling writing, and stimulate a playful but in-depth exploration of the interrelated nature of personal and contextual events, as part of artistic production.

The piece becomes a useful tool to interrogate the role that these relationships play in cultural production.
